Fishing

Malaysia is blessed with long coastal area. Terengganu, located on the East Coast of Malaysia is great for fishing. The picture below is shot near Tenggol Island, off Terengganu coast.

H is for...Hornbill by Hugo


Hornbill. Hornbills are the national bird of Malaysia. The female hornbill nests in a tree hollow. Her mate seals her up in the tree, leaving only a feeding slit through which he pokes food. This protects her from predators. Once the young are fledged, both parents work to raise them.

Hornbills are an important member of a healthy rainforest. They eat a wide variety of rain forest fruits and disperse many seeds.

Malaysia is a Muslim country. In Kuala Lumpur, you never travel far without finding a mosque. The call to prayer can often by heard from more than one mosque at a time.

Orangutans are endangered. There are a number of orangutan sanctuaries in East Malaysia. Some raise orphans. They try to make the orangutans self-sufficient so that they can be released back to the wild. Others provide a place away from poachers for the orangutans to live.

This was the tallest building in the world for a while. The towers have a footprint in the shape of an Islamic star. The towers were featured in a James Bond movie.

Rambutan. A rambutan is easy to recognise because its skin is hairy and the size is about the size of golf ball. The ripe fruit is either red or yellow and the pulp is white, sweet and juicy. Just mutry this fruit when you visit Malaysia.

Tekala Waterfall is located in Hulu Langat, Selangor. There are many waterfalls in the area. It is a great place for cooling your body.
